The Miami Marlins finish the season 69-93
It was yet another rough season for the Miami Marlins. A season where a lot of changed occurred with Derek Jeter leaving the ownership group. The pitching was not the problem for Miami this year as it was the offense that needs improvement.
The team also had so many games where they could've won but gave up leads late in ballgames. A stretch around midseason saw the Marlins lose consecutive games all by one run and there was nothing more frustrating for Marlins fans.
It seemed like the only games that the Marlins could win were against the Washington Nationals who struggled mightily this season. Games where ace Sandy Alcantara pitched where also games that were almost always victories.
Next season will look different for the Marlins as manager Don Mattingly will no longer manage the ball club. So another reset in terms of management and a different vision for the future of the team.
The starting pitching is fine but its definitely the relief pitching that needs work as well as the offense. If I am the Marlins this offseason, I am definitely looking to make a splash in the market. The Marlins are said to be on the radar for Carlos Correa which would be a big catch.
Miami finishes once again trailing heavily in the NL East sitting third with a 69-93 record. They miss out on another trip to the postseason.
