Inter Miami CF vs Toronto FC

Inter Miami CF vs Toronto FC

With three matches left in the season, Inter Miami CF visited Toronto FC as Miami searched for more points to solidify their playoff spot. This is a team that was predicted to finish anywhere from ninth to dead last in the Eastern Conference. The fact that we are here today talking about Miami finalizing a playoff spot is something to be celebrated amongst the ownership group of Inter Miami CF.

The match was very back and fourth all night long with both teams having their minutes of possession as well as an attack that looked like would end up in a goal being scored. Drake Callender once again would prove his worth on why he became the starting goalkeeper making some saves or even just making his presence known. Gregore and Alejandro Pozuelo would have chances themselves but would be saved by Toronto goalkeeper Westberg. Both squads mirrored themselves as the match entered the half all knotted up at 0-0.

The second half would bring a change as it was Miami that was bringing the pressure to the Canadian side. The substitution of Ariel Lassiter brought more energy to the attack really helping out Leonardo Campana and Gonzalo Higuaín.  The man himself signed bright once again for Miami in the 86th minute and that is Higuaín. He would score to give the Herons the 1-0 lead and could be the goal that sends them to the playoffs. Miami must forgive Higuaín for the way they treated him earlier in the season because he is the man who has given them a chance to be in this position.

Inter Miami CF would go on to hold that score of 1-0 to pick up all three points on the road and remain in the 7th spot which is the last and final playoff spot with two matches to go. The Herons can clinch the spot with a win in their next match.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a midweek home match at DRV PNK Stadium welcoming rivals Orlando City.
