Inter Miami CF vs CF Montreal

Inter Miami CF vs CF Montreal

It was decision day across Major League Soccer with Inter Miami CF just having to worry about seeding as they had already clinched a playoff spot. They welcomed CF Montreal who has been very good all season long but with a very poor road record. Miami and Montreal tied each other in their previous meeting in Canada.

It was fan appreciation at DRV PNK Stadium with much hype in the atmosphere/excitement for the playoffs. This was also a celebration of Gonzalo Higuaín and his final home match of his career as he is retiring. Montreal would enter South Florida and ruin all the celebrations and show why they're sitting second in the Eastern Conference.

It would only take Montreal five minutes to get on the board with a goal scored by Djordje Mihailovic to make it 1-0 for the visitors. The Canadian side was pushing the ball forward with much pace and intensity that seemed to have Miami out of sorts. Moments later it would be Lassi Lappalainen who would make the match 2-0.  Right before halftime it would be Kei Kamara off of a free kick to make it 3-0 going into the half.

The second half saw Gonzalo Higuaín get subbed off for what might've been his final appearance as a player at DRV PNK Stadium. Late in the match it would be Harvey Neville making his MLS debut who quickly made an impact. Neville sneakily got into the box firing off a cross looking for Bryce Duke that was deflected into the back of the net for 3-1.

Although Inter Miami CF did not get the three points and it's not the way you want to close off a season, they're still going to the playoffs.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match for round one of the MLS Cup Playoffs facing off against the defending champions in NYCFC.
