Miami Hurricanes vs North Carolina

 Miami Hurricanes vs North Carolina

After a needed hiatus from the embarrassing loss to Middle Tennessee two weeks ago, the Miami
Hurricanes look to start off their first ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) matchup of the season
with a win against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Unfortunately… it didn’t end up the way they
expected losing 27-24. Miami gave up 309 yards passing and 161 yards rushing, the defense in
the first half continues to give up massive plays, like the 74-yard TD pass from Drake Maye to
J.J. Jones on their first drive. North Carolina had a 21-7 lead and since then Miami had to play
catch-up with an offense that averages more than 30 PPG. The reason Miami was able to stay in
the game was because the defense didn’t allow a touchdown in the second half and an incredible
passing performance from Miami’s starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke OR TVD, who was
also named ACC Quarterback of the week and the player with the most yards thrown against an
FBS opponent this year with 496 yards. We haven’t seen this kind of passing since last year, it
looks like TVD has expressed his opinions about the offense and is working together with new
OC (Offensive Coordinator) Josh Gattis to make him more comfortable on the field. Even
though the Hurricanes lost, many fans were pleased with this new offense we saw on Saturday,
and hopefully the more reps TVD has with his receivers in practice and in-game, the better they
will become overall as a team.
