Heat guard Tyler Herro agrees to a four-year, $130 million

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro has agreed to a four-year, $130 million contract extension, with

the Miami Heat according to a tweet by ESPN senior insider reporter Adrian Wojanaowski

Sunday.

Herro, the 2022 NBA Sixth Man of The Year, was a part of trade talks throughout the NBA

offseason with the speculation of Miami’s involvement in acquiring two-time NBA champion

Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets when the forward was looking to be traded away from

Brooklyn. According to multiple sources, Herro was potentially a piece in multiple possible trade

scenarios for the Heat.

The deal includes $120 million guaranteed with a possible additional $10 million in incentives,

according to ESPN.

Herro was a large part to the Miami Heat’s run late into the 2022 NBA Playoff, which saw a Heat

team take the Boston Celtics to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Coming off of

the bench, he provided an offensive spark for Miami late in games with a consistent offensive

performance until he suffered a lower body injury midway through the ECF.

Herro averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the 2021-2022 season in 66 games

-- 10 of them with him starting. His scoring average coming off the bench (20.8) was the highest

in the NBA last season.
