Inter Miami CF vs Columbus Crew

Inter Miami CF vs Columbus Crew

This match had all the dramatics that you can think of in what was a bus win match for Inter Miami CF. The Herons had been defeated by the Crew just 15 days earlier at Lower.com Field. Miami entered the match sitting 9th in the Eastern Conference while the Crew hold the last playoff position in 7th.

Inter Miami CF would draw first blood in the 25th minute with Robert Taylor sending a ball to the right side for Ariel Lassiter who caught Gonzalo Higuain running in the box to make it 1-0. Columbus would get back at Miami in the 41st minute with Cucho Hernandez who gets his head on the ball and directs it into goal for 1-1.

We thought we would be returning to the second half normally after halftime but Mother Nature had other plans. The match would be delayed for almost three hours due to severe thunderstorms in the Fort Lauderdale either. The air conditioning at DRV PNK Stadium would break down that would leave both teams sitting in the tunnel hallway during the delay.

After three hours both teams would return to the pitch to get the second half of this match going. The Pozuelo and Higuain connection would prove clutch once again. This match looked like it was heading towards a draw but Higuain would slip a ball past the keeper on the right side in the 82nd minute to give Miami the 2-1 lead. Drake Callender would also come up with a huge save that would've equalized the match for the Crew.

With New England Revolution's loss, that pushes Miami up to 8th in the Eastern Conference just two points off the final playoff spot.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match this weekend visiting D.C. United.
