Inter Miami CF vs CF Montreal

The difficult road trip continued for Inter Miami CF after visiting San Jose in a hard fought match. Miami would travel cross country into Canada entering Saputo Stadium home of CF Montreal who historically has done well against the Herons as well as sitting 3rd in the Eastern Conference.

As the commentators for Miami mentioned, the opening 10-15 minutes of this match were going to be crucial. Indeed they were as Montreal would take the lead with Romell Quioto who volleyed it past Drake Callender at the far post to make it 1-0. Just a minute later, something Miami has failed to do historically which is respond after conceding would occur with Alejandro Pozuelo sneaking in a beautiful through ball for Gonzalo Higuaín who would extend his hot scoring streak equalizing it 1-1.

The Canadian side would strike again in the 21st minute off of a cross in that would pin the head of a Montreal striker but would also strike the hand of Christopher McVey. The referee would go over to VAR and would not take long to come back with the decision of a penalty in favor of Montreal. Quioto would step up and barely get it past Callender to make it a 2-1 lead. Montreal would head to the dressing room with the lead.

Miami's solid back line would hold the one goal lead throughout the second half despite chances from Montreal. The Herons would be rewarded in the 79th minute with a solo run by Emerson Rodriguez who would have his first shot deflected by the keeper back at him which followed a whiffed shot by Rodriguez who quickly got up and buried the third shot to equalize the match 2-2. You know what they say "Third time is the charm".

Inter Miami CF and CF Montreal would share the points with the 2-2 draw. Miami with this result falls back one place to 9th in the Eastern Conference.
