Inter Miami CF vs Charlotte FC
For the first time in history, Inter Miami CF faced off against inaugural Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium. Both of these clubs entered Saturdays fixture coming off of defeats with Miami falling to the New England Revolution and Charlotte falling to Orlando City. These clubs entered the fixture as well sitting next to each other in the table in the Eastern Conference.
There was some major changed to the lineup entering this match with: Drake Callendar, Ryan Sailor, Kieran Gibbs, Bryce Duke, and welcoming back Indiana Vassilev. These changes come from notable missing players like Gonzalo Higuain (injury) Damion Lowe (suspension) Jairo Quinteros (suspension) Brek Shea (injury) and Nick Marsman (injury).
This match easily could've had multiple goals as the first half you can just feel that Charlotte was knocking on the door. Callendar was the MVP for Miami because if it wasn't for him then Charlotte would've recorded multiple goals. The South Florida side did have moments of brilliance that had you thinking they were about to get on the board but Charlotte GK Kristijan Kahlina made fantastic saves to keep it level. Kamil Jozwiak was the most impressive outfield player on the pitch from both sides creating the danger for Charlotte FC.
The North Carolina side controlled 53% possession along with 14 shots with seven of those being on target. For Inter Miami CF they had 47% possession along with 12 shots and six of those being on target. The magic moment would come in the 68th minute when substitute Andre Shinyashiki making his debut for Charlotte would receive a cross from Yordy Reyna sliding across the right side of the box slotting it home past Callendar to give them the 1-0 lead.
The match would stay this way giving Charlotte FC the 1-0 victory over Inter Miami CF pushing them to 8th in the table. For Miami they record their second straight defeat and fall to 13th in the table.
