The Miami FC vs Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC
Back-to-back home matches for The Miami FC this time welcoming in the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Miami was looking to get another result at home after earning a point last weekend against Loudoun United. Colorado Springs enters this match coming off a 2-0 victory against the Birmingham Legion on the road.
With 1,083 in attendance at FIU Stadium, this match got off to a quick start with Colorado's Hadji Barry slotting home a left-footed shot assisted by Michee Ngalina in the fourth minute.
It was a pretty even match with both squads totaling 11 shots on the night as well with possession being very close with Miami having 51% compared to Colorado's 49%.
A concern for Miami in the 25th minute as Lamar Walker replaces Christian Sorto due to an injury picked up.
Springs would take another goal advantage in the 68th minute with Ngalina hitting right footed shot assisted by Matthew Mahoney to make it a 2-0 match.
Nine minutes later Miami would respond with a header in the center of the box scored by Romeo Parkes to make it a 2-1 match. This would inject life into the South Florida side to pick up another point with 15 minutes left to play.
The second goal would never happen as referee Elvis Osmanovic would blow the whistle for full time giving Miami their second defeat of the season.
The Miami FC will take on Miami United on Wednesday in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup at 7:00 pm EST.
