Inter Miami CF vs New England Revolution

Inter Miami CF vs New England Revolution

Inter Miami CF entered the match still searching for their first win of the season coming off a 3-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo. They welcomed in a New England Revolution team who has been in poor form to start this season. The Revs come off a historic 73-point season as well as acquiring Sebastian Lleget and Jozy Altidore in the off season.

The big story was the Miami squad going out without Gonzalo Higuain due to a slight knee injury. 10 minutes into the match, the hearts of heron fans sank after the Revolution capitalized with a perfect buildup that saw Justin Rennicks finish the chance to make it 1-0.

Miami seemed more free and fast paced without the Argentine star on the field. The man in his place Leonardo Campana would equalize in the 17th minute with a header coming off of a counter attack. Later on in the 23rd minute another counter attack would ensue for Inter who had more speed would end up with Campana having the ball at the back of the 18. He would slot it home in the roof of the net giving the pink and black a 2-1 lead into the half.

In the second half the Revs saw the most of possession but just didn't have enough space or creativity to find those match defining opportunities. They would be brought right back in it during the 67th minute when defender Damion Lowe with a hard challenge inside the 18 would see the referee point to the spot. Spaniard Carles Gil would equalize to make it a 2-2 match in what seemed to be heading towards a draw.

In the 88th minute, a huge mistake would cost New England when a ball played by Bryce Duke would find the hands of the Revs goalkeeper in which he would drop it. As a result of the drop, Campana was right there to slot it home to earn the very first hat trick in Miami history.

Inter Miami CF earns their first +3 of the season and will take a road trip to face the Seattle Sounders next weekend.
