The Miami FC vs Louisville City FC
March 19, 2022- First road assignment for The Miami FC in the 2022 campaign took place at the Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky. Miami entered this match coming off a 2-0 victory to open up the season at home. Meanwhile, City opened up their season with a 1-0 victory over Atlanta United II. Miami and Louisville met in the Eastern Conference quarter-finals where Louisville ended Miami's season with a final score of 1-0.
A different narrative for Miami in this game as they were kept at 44% possession as well as only four shots in the entire match with only two of those being on target. The match would also feature a high nine yellow cards being shown.
The entire match Louisville City moved the ball well and would capitalize in the 36th minute with a shot bouncing off Miami defenders landing at the feet of Paolo Del Piccolo who slotted it home to make it a 1-0 match. Miami struggled to create any chances in the final third and maintain possession of the ball.
There was bound to be another goal for City who had 16 shots with five on target and in the 74th minute they tacked on another to seal the deal. Brian Ownby would receive a beautiful ball through on his run before cutting back and firing past the keeper to extend the lead to 2-0. This would put a damper on the chances of Miami coming back and would be the final result.
The Miami FC will return home to welcome Loudoun United FC next.
