Inter Miami CF vs FC Cincinnati
March 19, 2022- The second road trip of the season for the Herons took place at TQL Stadium facing FC Cincinnati. This is a place that has been successful for Miami dating back to last season where Inter was the first team to ever win at TQL Stadium in a 3-2 victory and later on in the season with a 1-0 victory with a goal from Brek Shea. Miami enters the match looking for their first win of the season coming off a 2-0 loss to LAFC. FC Cincinnati comes into the match coming off a 2-1 road victory against Orlando City.
It was another brace for Brandon Vasquez for Cincinnati coming off of one against Orlando City. Vasquez who was assisted by Ronald Matarrita helping his teammate to four goals at the top of the table. Cincy came into this match with all of the momentum after eliminating a 14-game losing streak last weekend. Both Vasquez and Matarrita would make the match a 2-0 contest just within the opening 24 minutes of the match.
Hope and confidence would strike back into Miami when Deandre Yedlin was fouled in the box that prompted the referee to point towards the spot. Gonzalo Higuain would step up and bring one back scoring for the first time this season as well as making it a 2-1 match. Cincinnati would keep Miami in check after the penalty shot.
In the 76th minute of the match Vasquez was taken out by Miami's defender Damion Lowe to cause the second penalty of this game but this time in favor of Cincinnati. Luciano Acosta would send the penalty wide left to keep Miami alive in this match. That hope wouldn't last forever as Vasquez gets his head on a service in from Matarrita in the 82nd minute to the far post making it a 3-1 match which would be the final score.
Inter Miami CF remains without a victory through four as well as only one goal from free play. This FC Cincinnati match was the best opportunity to earn a result as they face a tough schedule in April that could see them go without any points. You ask yourself how long can ownership keep Neville in with these results. These poor results as well will definitely impact the minds of Miami commissioners when thinking about the vote on Miami Freedom Park.
Inter Miami CF will have two weeks off due to international play and will return home to face the Houston Dynamo at DRV PNK Stadium.
