Marlins lose series to Mets in extra innings
It was a great start to the new season for the Miami Marlins with three victories coming by way of walk-offs against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Miami would also be victorious taking the series but would turn their eyes to a home series for their first taste of NL East baseball. The New York Mets entered loanDepot Park with excitement behind the team after landing Juan Soto from the Yankees. Whenever a New York team is in town you know it will draw a crowd.
Game 1: Marlins 4-10 Mets
Pete Alonso made his presence known hitting a grand slam that would give the Mets a 10-4 victory to open up the series.
Game 2: Marlins 4-2 Mets
Sandy Alcantara had another great outing going five innings earning his first win of the season as the Marlins defeat the Mets 4-2.
Game 3: Marlins 5-6 Mets
Pete Alonso hits a three-run homer to tie the game in the 8th sending the game to extras where the Mets steal the series from the fish with a 6-5 victory.
Next up for the Miami Marlins is a road series visiting the Atlanta Braves.
