Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs

Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs

We've finally entered the week of the NBA trade deadline and it remains to be seen what the Miami Heat will do with Jimmy Butler. The Golden State Warriors are out of the equation as Butler stated that he would not sign an extension with the team. The Phoenix Suns seem to be the only option that Butler is interested in playing for. Meanwhile the team starts out a road trip with the first stop being in San Antonio to face the Spurs who just acquired De'Aron Fox from Sacramento.

Leading the way for the Miami Heat was Bam Adebayo who had a phenomenal night dropping 30 points on the Spurs. Tyler Herro would have a rare off night as he was just named an All-Star reserve and finished this game with just 11 points. A point of emphasis is the Miami bench with Terry Rozier dropping 19 points followed by Nikola Jovic with 14 points. Jaime Jaquez Jr also reached double digits finishing the game with 10 points.

The main man for the Spurs in this game was Devin Vassell who finished scoring with 18 points with both Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes finishing with 12 points. Stephon Castle would be next dropping in with 10 points followed by Charles Bassey closing the Spurs starting lineup with nine points. Off the bench for San Antonio was Keldon Johnson dropping 19 points as the Spurs bench was a crucial part to the game outplaying the starters.

Victor Wembanyama was ruled out of this game just 40 minutes before tip with an undisclosed illness as he was also selected to his first All-Star game. This would be just the sixth game this season that the French national would miss. The Spurs will now go on a long road trip as the local rodeo will be taking over the Frost Bank Center for a month. The Spurs will host two games in nearby Austin.

Adebayo went 13 for 21 from the field and stacked that with nine defensive rebounds being a force to reckon with on the glass. Rozier was big help for Miami going five for nine beyond the arch and seven of 14 from the field in just 33 minutes. Chris Paul missed a short jumper with five seconds left with Miami calling timeout setting up the game winning shot from Bam Adebayo. The Heat win 105-103 winning their last three of four.

Up next for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Chicago Bulls.
