Florida Panthers vs St. Louis Blues

Florida Panthers vs St. Louis Blues

The start of 2025 has been good to the Florida Panthers elevating their play to another level retaking the lead of the Atlantic Division from the Toronto Maple Leafs and jumping all the way to second in the Eastern Conference after being in fifth. Florida has only lost one game in the young month of February so far and that was against the top dog of the conference in the Washington Capitals falling 6-3 which was their last game. The Panthers now pay a visit to the St. Louis Blues who are seeking to jump into a playoff spot.

The home team got us started in this one with the Blues finding the back of the net three minutes into the game by way of Bolduc assisted by Suter making it 1-0. Florida would have a response to the early St. Louis lead with Samoskevich earning his eighth goal of the season equalizing the game 1-1. Matthew Tkachuk would find luck through a power play assisted by Ekblad giving Florida the lead 2-1. The end of the first period would see Florida head into the intermission with the lead.

The Blues broke the ice in the first period and would do the same in the second period with Sundqvist finding the back of the net on a power play equalizing this game once again making it 2-2. Samoskevich had bad luck after returning after missing the last three games due to an illness but would leave this one after sustaining an upper body injury and would not return.

The game would remain all square 2-2 through the end of the second period and for a majority of the third period. Tkachuk would have something to say about that finding the back of the net with just 11 seconds remaining on the clock giving the Panthers the 3-2 lead assisted by Reinhart. Tkachuk would extend his goal streak to now five games in which he has six goals and five assists during this time span. The Panthers hold on for the late victory defeating the Blues by a final score of 3-2.

Up next for the Florida Panthers is a home game welcoming the Ottawa Senators to the Amerant Bank Arena.
