Miami Heat vs Sacramento Kings
Despite all the drama for the Miami Heat regarding Jimmy Butler the team must try to carry on in the season. They're currently on a two-game losing streak with losses against the Indiana Pacers 128-115 and the Utah Jazz 136-100 which was the worst loss in a long time for this organization. It is really hard as a team to move on and focus with your leader in this current situation. Miami starts a road trip out west starting with the Sacramento Kings. The Kings burned Miami last time they faced in South Florida and look to do it again.
For the Heat it was Tyler Herro who continues to have a phenomenal season finishing the game with 26 points going 11/25 from the field. Following boy wonder was both Terry Rozier and Bam Adebayo both contributing with 18 points. Jaime Jaquez Jr who's been called on a lot more because of the departure of Jimmy finished the night with 16 points. Rounding up the starting lineup for Miami was Haywood Highsmith with 14 points. Nikola Jovic was the main man off the bench finishing the game with 12 points as he continues to have valuable minutes.
Demar DeRozan once again has burned the Miami Heat with drilling impossible shots with no Heat defender being able to lock him up no matter how tight they played defensively. There was no answer for DeRozan who dropped 30 points on the Heat. Malik Monk was a force to reckon with driving into the paint finishing with 23 points. Demontas Sabonis allowed the Kings to have so many second chance points in which he finished with 21 points. Keon Ellis closed off the starting lineup for Sacramento finishing the game with 17 points.
The Heat looked like they were on the way to securing victory to start off the road trip but would end up blowing a 17-point lead. The Kings showed heart and effort with many saying it's the most effort they've seen from the team since the firing of Mike Brown. The Heat continue to have a negative record without Butler as they're 4-7 without him. The game would finish tied 102-102 at the end of regulation sending it to overtime.
In overtime the Heat played sloppy missing free throws that could've sealed the game and not being able to rebound the basketball. The game remained tied after the first overtime period 112-112 after a pair of missed free throws from Jaquez Jr and a silly foul from Highsmith. This allowed DeRozan to take over with a three-pointer and several step back jumpers putting the dagger in Miami. After two overtime periods the Kings defeated the Heat 123-118.
Up next for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Golden State Warriors.
