Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors
The state of California can really use this time to watch some basketball and get their minds off of the current devastation of wildfires. Steve Kerr the head coach of the Golden State Warriors expressed his sympathy post game after his team played the Miami Heat. This is the second game for the Heat in California after losing in double overtime to the Sacramento Kings. Kevin Love called a team meeting in which it is said he raised his voice and that really seemed to work. Miami showed true courage and fight in this gam against Golden State.
There was a new leader at the top of the scorers board for Miami and this time it was not Tyler Herro but Nikola Jovic who finished the game with 20 points going 8/17 from the field doing it all from the bench. Bam Adebayo had a great game stepping up with 19 points followed by Jaime Jaquez Jr finishing his night with 18 points. Tyler Herro had a slow night which is rare to say this season with the form he's been in and finished with just 14 points. Terry Rozier hit some key buckets but only contributed with nine points and rounding out the starting lineup was Haywood Highsmith with five points.
To no surprise for the Golden State Warriors it was Stephen Curry who's been hot as of late leading his team with 31 points. Trayce Jackson-Davis followed Curry finishing with 19 points as the rest of the Warriors lineup did not have such a hot night. Andrew Wiggins who's name has been tied into trade rumors finished with just nine points. The veteran Draymond Green who isn't really known as an offensive threat but can be streaky finished the game with seven points. Rounding up the lineup was new addition Dennis Schroder contributing with only five points.
Jimmy Butler sat out his third consecutive game due to suspension because of his critical comments towards the team. Butler was seen late last night training at the Kaseya Center with Heat assistant coaches. Brandin Podziemski missed his fifth consecutive game for the Warriors with right abdominal tightness meanwhile Gary Payton II missed his seventh consecutive game from a strained left calf he sustained during the Christmas Day game. Coach Kerr expects both players to be back with the team in their upcoming road trip.
The Warriors who trailed all night had a chance to come within three in the third quarter with one minute left when Jackson-Davis drove the basketball to the basket throwing down a left-handed jam. Curry also hit two three-pointers at the end of the first half to make the score 61-48 having six of his eight three-pointers plus 20 points at the break. The Warriors just could not catch fire and continue the momentum to catch up to the Heat. Miami really needed this game after falling to ninth in the conference and would come away with the 114-98 victory.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Utah Jazz.
