Miami Heat vs Portland Trail Blazers
The trade may finally be happening involving several teams including the Miami Heat of course as they prepare to unload Jimmy Butler. The Phoenix Suns let go of draft picks on Tuesday night as they create space to improve the roster as it looks like it's a trade for Butler. Until its official, Butler participated in welcoming the Portland Trail Blazers to the Kaseya Center. Butler has been pictured being very distant from his teammates and wearing shoes with the colors of the Phoenix Suns.
Tyler Herro would miss this game after waking up with a sore groin and was questionable but would be made not available two hours before tip. Duncan Robinson had another big night this time bringing in 22 points leading the way for Miami. Kel'el Ware would follow Robinson who once again would get another nod to start bringing in 20 points. Jimmy Butler had a much better outing compared to his last racking in 13 points. Bam Adebayo who's been inconsistent this season and really struggling finished the night with 12 points. Closing out the starting lineup was Terry Rozier who dropped only nine points and Nikola Jovic leading the bench with 12 points.
For the visiting Trail Blazers it was Anfernee Simons leading the way dropping 24 points having yet another great game against the Heat. Deandre Ayton had his way in the paint especially against Bam finishing the night with 22 points. Jerami Grant would go 5-14 from the field finishing the game with 18 points. Deni Avdija would follow next contributing to the game with 16 points and rounding out the starting lineup was Scoot Henderson finishing the night with 11 points. Leading the bench for Portland was Shaedon Sharpe with 12 points.
The Blazers really started to pull away from Miami in the third quarter opening up a six-point lead after going on a 21-8 run. The Heat found themselves down 21 in the fourth quarter but would go on a 19-4 run that tightened to the gap. Jaime Jaquez Jr would hit two free throws with a minute left in the game making the score 112-105. Grant would put the game away for Portland draining three of four free throws giving the Blazers a 115-105 lead with 35 seconds remaining.
A big important stat to mention was that the Blazers didn't commit their first turnover from a wild pass from Henderson in the third quarter. It's the first time Portland went an entire half without committing a turnover since 2019 against Cleveland. Miami started out making five out of seven three pointers but would then miss 19 straight behind the line. The Heat would fall in this game to the Blazers by a final score of 116-107.
Up next for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Milwaukee Bucks.
