Miami Dolphins vs San Francisco 49ers

Miami Dolphins vs San Francisco 49ers

The playoff hopes are still alive for the Miami Dolphins but they're hanging on by a thread. They must win out in order to make that slim chance a reality plus some help from around the league. Miami comes off a tough loss against the Houston Texans by a final score of 20-12. They're left with a favorable schedule starting off with the San Francisco 49ers who after making the Super Bowl last season have struggled mightily this year. The 49ers travel to Miami coming off a low scoring loss to the Los Angeles Rams 12-6.

QB Tua Tagavailoa who had a terrible day against Houston finishes this game against San Francisco going 23/34 for 215 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. In the rushing department for Miami it was De'Von Achane with 17 carries for 120 yards and one touchdown. Achane led receiving as well with six receptions for 70 yards. Tyreek Hill has been struggling this season as in this game only had three receptions for 29 yards but did have one touchdown. Jonnu Smith continues to be a bright spot for the team finishing with six receptions for 62 yards with no touchdowns.

The rising star Brock Purdy finished the afternoon for the 49ers going 26/40 on 313 yards with two touchdowns but did have one interception. You know you have a problem when your non rushing QB is leading the rushing leaderboard with four carries for 26 yards. Deebo Samuel would have one more carry with five going for 25 yards and no touchdowns. George Kittle led receiving for San Francisco with eight receptions on 106 yards with no touchdowns. Samuel would be second in receiving with seven receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown.

It was a tough game for the 49ers in terms of injuries which really has plagued them all season long. In this game alone Dre Greenlaw, Jaylon Moore, and Leonard Floyd left the game with injuries and did not return. Miami had some injuries as well with Jaylen Waddle missing the game with a knee injury and Kendall Fuller as well dealing with a knee injury. Both of these teams and fan bases who had high expectations for this season have been bitten by the injury bug that has really impacted the season greatly.

During the game we would find out that the 49ers had been eliminated from playoff contention going from Super Bowl to missing the postseason entirely. Late in the game it was Kohou who intercepted Purdy keeping Miami's playoff chances alive. Jason Sanders played a big factor for the Dolphins kicking five field goals. The Niners were down just two in the 4th but consecutive penalties on the defensive end ruined any chance of winning this game. They were penalized 11 times for 90 yards which led to Achane running one into the end zone for 50 yards. The Dolphins defeat the 49ers by a final score of 29-17 with two games left in the season.

Next up for the Miami Dolphins is a road game visiting the Cleveland Browns.
