Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers
It's been an inconsistent month of December so far for the Florida Panthers starting it out with a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Panthers would then go on a three-game winning streak defeating the Flyers, Sharks, and Kraken. Florida then moved into Canada where the trip has not been so kind to them falling to the Canucks and Flames. They would look to get back on track with a rematch from the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers enter the game with a victory over the Las Vegas Golden Knights 6-3.
The first period would start with a Panthers goal just two minutes in coming from Boqvist making it 1-0 silencing Rogers Place. The Oilers would respond 15 minutes in with Hyman assisted by McDavid equalizing the game 1-1. Near the end of the period the Panthers would be rewarded with a power play where Matthew Tkachuk would be assisted by Carter Verhaeghe retaking the lead for Florida 2-1. The first period would come to an end with three goals total.
In the second period the Oilers would respond strongly with Hyman getting his second of the game and 10th of the season assisted by McDavid once again making it a tie game 2-2. Just a minute later it was Brown assisted by Perry giving the Oilers the first lead of the game 3-2. Two minutes later on a power play for Edmonton it was Draisaitl assisted by McDavid extending the lead to 4-2. The second period would end with Gustav Forsling assisted by Lundell bringing the Panthers right back into the game making it 4-3.
The third period was as wild as the second with Mikkola getting on the board for Florida six minutes in assisted by Lundell tying the game 4-4. Sam Reinhart just a minute later would score a goal from an impossible angle giving Florida the lead back 5-4. The Oilers had a response just a minute later with Kapanen assisted by Kukal would tie the game again 5-5. The Panthers had the final word with Verhaeghe getting his ninth of the season which would be the game winning goal with Florida defeating Edmonton 6-5.
Next up for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the Minnesota Wild.
