Florida Panthers vs Colorado Avalanche

 Florida Panthers vs Colorado Avalanche

It's been a tough stretch of games for the Florida Panthers with a losing streak now extending to three and have fallen all the way to sixth in the Eastern Conference. Florida has also lost control of the division as the Toronto Maple Leafs have taken the top spot. Defense has been the issue with teams piling on goals with nine scored combined between the losses at Winnipeg and Chicago. They now return home to play the Colorado Avalanche.

52 seconds into the first period the Panthers set the tone with Carter Verhaeghe getting on the board assisted by Lundell making it 1-0. They held that lead for several minutes until Colorado responded nine minutes in with Drouin finding the back of the net past Spencer Knight equalizing the game 1-1. Barkov would have the last say in the first period being assisted by Matthew Tkachuk giving Florida the lead 2-1 at the intermission.

Drouin would get a brace and his second goal of the season just 34 seconds into the second period once again Colorado equalizing the game 2-2. Kylington would assist O'Connor in the fourth minute giving the Avalanche the lead for the first time in the game 3-2. Four minutes later it would be Girard for Colorado doubling the lead to 4-2. The Avalanche would find the back of the net again for the third time in the second period with Rantanen making it 5-2. Florida would get one back off of a power play with Sam Reinhart making it 5-3.

In the third period the Avalanche would continue their success in this game with Kylington extending the lead making the game 6-3. The Panthers decide to leave the net open and would pay with Nichushkin getting himself goal for Colorado's 7th goal making it 7-3. The Panthers would have one final push with Lundell scoring to make it 7-4. That would be the final score with the Avalanche handing the Panthers the third straight loss.

Up next for the Florida Panthers is a home game welcoming the Washington Capitals to Amerant Bank Arena.
