Florida Panthers vs Minnesota Wild

 Florida Panthers vs Minnesota Wild

The second OT game of the season this time went the Florida Panthers way defeating the Las Vegas Golden Knights 4-3. The Panthers turn their attention to another home game welcoming the Minnesota Wild who have not lost a game so far this season. Florida would welcome Matthew Tkachuk back to the lineup after dealing with an illness but were still without Aleksander Barkov. The defense for the Panthers has been the question early on this season and not what it looked like all of last season.

From the beginning of the night at Amerant Bank Arena it was not going the Florida Panthers way. 11 minutes into the first period it was once again the opposing team taking the lead first with Rossi finding the net making it 1-0. Just a minute later it was Johansson making it 2-0 for the Wild but not a deficit we haven't seen the Panthers comeback from. It was difficult for Florida offensively when Filip Gustavsson making 24 saves. Jake Middleton would tie a career-best with three assists on the night.

The Wild would extend the lead at the start of the second period with Boldy finding the back of the net making it 3-0. It was a tough night for Sergei Bobrovsky giving up just 16 shots and would end up being replaced by Spencer Knight in the third period. Finally the Panthers would find the board with Sam Bennett with his fifth goal on the season making it 3-1. That would be it for the Panthers offensively with the Wild finding the net two more times. Minnesota would head to the third period with a 5-1 lead with goals from Zuccarello and Eriksson.

Bobrovsky remains just one win away with being the 14th goaltender to earn 400 victories. There was no goals in the third period with the Wild taking the victory over the Panthers 5-1. This is the biggest win for the Wild over the Panthers since 2008 where they won at Amerant Bank Arena 6-2. Minnesota has also earned a point in their first six games of the season which has not happened since that very same year of 2008.

Next up for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the New York Rangers.
