Inter Miami CF vs Toronto FC

Inter Miami CF vs Toronto FC

The Copa America has reached its conclusion as participating MLS players have returned to their clubs. The big news for Inter Miami CF would be that its star Lionel Messi will miss some time after picking up an injury in the final against Colombia. It's estimated at least the next two matches but it looks like it'll be more as Messi was seen in a walking boot. Luis Suarez also returned to Miami after his time with Uruguay as the Herons welcomed Toronto FC for a midweek clash at Chase Stadium.

Down to the match action it was a pretty even 45 minutes with Miami looking to get back on track after an embarrassing loss to Cincinnati who seized control of the Eastern Conference. Right when we thought this was going to halftime scoreless it was the home side finding the opener. Redondo fired a ball over the top finding Diego Gómez who fired a bullet past Sean Johnson to open the scoring 1-0. That's how both teams would enter the dressing room at the break.

The second half showed Toronto starting to push and put pressure on that Miami back line in which unfortunately would lose Serhiy Kryvstov due to injury adding to a list of injury stricken players for the Herons. Toronto had wide open chances that they couldn't believe they missed and would end up punished. Julian Gressel would find Redondo wide open for a header to make it 2-0 giving Redondo his first goal with the club.

In the same match he found his first career goal with Miami Redondo would find his second. Gomez with a smart pass down the middle leaving Toronto to scramble reached the foot of Redondo for a one-time finish to make it 3-0. Toronto would get one back through Derrick Etienne Jr in the 80th minute making 3-1 and the games final goal. Miami reclaims first in the East with the win and loss by Cincinnati.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match welcoming the Chicago Fire to Chase Stadium.
