Inter Miami CF vs Vancouver Whitecaps

Inter Miami CF vs Vancouver Whitecaps

The big story this week was the Vancouver Whitecaps filing a complaint to league officials against Inter Miami CF. Vancouver was upset because of Miami's lack of reporting of who would be playing in the match at BC Place. They sighted that many fans traveled and bought tickets to see players like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez who did not make the trip. Miami enters the match coming off a win against D.C. United meanwhile Vancouver enters the match coming off a draw against the Seattle Sounders.

For a change this season it was Inter Miami CF attacking early instead of the opponents. Miami had chances from Leonardo Campana, Matias Rojas, and Robert Taylor. Jordi Alba was the only player out of the superstars signed in the offseason to make the trip to Canada. The opportunity for Miami arrived in the 38th minute with Taylor cutting to his right at the edge of the box sending a shot to the right upper corner to give his team a 1-0 lead.

Miami would make their mark coming out in the second half with doubling the lead in the 54th minute. Campana would find Taylor who completed a step over sending the ball to the back post finding Campana who slotted it home for 2-0. Taylor and Campana were resilient before Messi but have now elevated their play after the arrival of the World Cup winner.

Federico Redondo would enter the match in the 65th minute seeing his first action after being out for two months due to injury. Vancouver would make things spicy with a penalty being awarded to them in the 72nd minute. Ryan Gauld would nail the penalty to make it 2-1 as they continued to apply pressure in the remaining minutes. Miami would hold on for the three points with the 2-1 victory continuing to lead the conference and now 10 games unbeaten in league play.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a midweek match welcoming Atlanta United to Chase Stadium.
