Another year Another star player gone

Another year and another star player gone for the Miami Marlins as they trade Luis Arraez to the San Diego Padres giving away some cash and receiving a minor league prospect. Arraez was surprised  to be traded as he comes off back-to-back batting titles and was the only form of offense for Miami this season. The Marlins are currently 9-25 sitting last in the NL East and one the worst records in baseball.

The Miami fan base has every right to be upset because it seems like this is the same narrative every single season. The Marlins always seem to be in a rebuilding stage and never progress to creating a winning culture or winning team. They made the playoffs last season facing the Philadelphia Phillies but the series failed to make it back to loanDepot Park as they were swept.

Under the leadership of Jeffrey Loria and David Samson, the fans were upset because they would sell of their star players. After the 1997 and 2003 World Series titles both teams were completely dismantled upsetting the fan base. Miami has lost players like Miguel Cabrera, Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich, and Giancarlo Stanton. Many former Miami players have gone on to win championships elsewhere leaving fans to think that we just help other teams win titles.

Miami taxpayers had to swallow the payment of a 99-year lease deal between the Marlins and Miami-Dade County to demolish the historic and iconic Orange Bowl to construct loanDepot Park. Fans feel like it was a waste of money with attendance being one of the worst in the league because of a losing organization that continues to be a disgrace to the city with its actions.

It's been proven that Miami is a baseball town, there is a lot of love for the game here. Unfortunately, many Miami baseball lovers follow other teams because they're tired of being disappointed and disrespected by the Marlins organization. Fans thought that maybe Bruce Sherman could be different but it has turned out to be even worse. There should be no blame on manager Skip Schumaker for wanting to leave an organization that doesn't provide the resources to him in order to win. The neglect and poor attendance for this ball club will continue to be a regular as long as the organization continues to disrespect its fans. Now days, people just go to loanDepot for the food at least that is a positive out of everything.
