The Miami FC vs Hartford Athletic

The Miami FC vs Hartford Athletic

History was made for the USL Championship and The Miami FC this past weekend as the match against Hartford Athletic was played on CBS making it the first time they would play on national television. Miami entered the match looking to get back on top in the win column as they have not been able to grab a victory since the first match of the season. They come in after a draw followed by a defeat at home.

Big day for Frank Lopez as he returned to the field for Miami for the first time since recovering from injury. In the 4th minute Lopez, would have the first chance of the match getting a shot off but would just go wide left. He would have himself another chance at goal in the 20th minute with a header but would miss mark again this time going wide of the near post.

Hartford Athletic remained in control of possession despite the two good chances Miami had at goal. Deshane Beckford in the 30th minute would be tripped up in the box prompting the referee to point to the spot giving the home team a penalty. Daniel Gagliardi would come up big time for the visitors as Romario Williams would have the penalty shot blocked leaving the match scoreless.

The next couple of minutes would be crucial in the match because Beckford would draw his revenge getting the games first goal in the 46th minute just outside of the box making it 1-0. Hartford doubled the lead in the 55th minute off a corner kick seeing the goal to Williams who redeemed himself for the missed penalty making it 2-0.

Signs of life arrived for Miami in the 77th minute with Gabriel Cabral earning his first goal of the 2024 campaign to make the match 2-1. Things looked out of reach when Enoch Mushagalusa would get Hartfords third goal making it 3-1. That wouldn't be the end as an own goal in the 94th minute would cut the lead back down to one with a 3-2. scoreline.

It was too late for Miami as Hartford would go on to get the three points with the 3-2 victory leaving the visitors with back-to-back defeats. Miami currently sits in 8th place of the Eastern Conference as they gear up to come back home to face their rivals.

Next up for The Miami FC is a weekday match welcoming the Tampa Bay Rowdies to FIU Stadium.
