The Miami FC vs Pittsburgh Riverhounds
We're at the point in the season where dropping points is an absolute no. The Miami FC have struggled in the last couple of matches and currently on a three-match losing streak. There is only five matches left with Miami welcoming the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to FIU Stadium.
Miami would dominate possession in the opening half with Pittsburgh finding some moments in the final third but nothing going. Both teams would test each other with Miami trying to reach the playoffs meanwhile Pittsburgh fights to keep the top spot of the Eastern Conference.
The Riverhounds broke through Miami's possession and would find their comfort in the match finding its stride. This would force Miami to rely on their back line to keep things settled at least until the end of the half. They were able to do so as both teams headed to the dressing room with the match knotted up 0-0.
Empty possession like we sometimes see from the Spanish national team is what we witness here in the second half from The Miami FC. They would come out in the second half retaining possession but nothing to show for it especially getting into the final third.
A dagger hit the in the 63rd minute when the Pittsburgh Riverhounds were granted a penalty. The visiting team would nail it to take the 1-0 lead. It was up to Miami in the moment to try and save the season and salvage some points.
In the 88th minute it would be Telfer and Miami fighting back into the match equalizing 1-1 with Pittsburgh which looked like a draw was going to be the final result. FIU Stadium erupted in cheers for the effort the home team put into fighting back.
The blue and orange were left speechless when Pittsburgh would regain the lead in the 90th minute making it 2-1 and robbing all three points on the road. This was a massive blow to Miami's hope and chase for the playoffs.They remain in 10th just seven points shy of the final spot.
