Miami vs Texas A&M
The University of Miami Football Program have just won what is arguably the most important
game of the 2023-24 season, this was the first win against an SEC team in the past decade. The
Miami Hurricanes on Saturday September 9th went into Hard Rock Stadium on a mission to
prove that not only that they’ve improved but that the program is headed in the right direction.
Winning this game against the 23rd ranked Texas A&M Aggies will boost the team’s overall
confidence but also show future recruits that Miami is the best choice in their commitment
process.
1 st Quarter
Miami starts the game out with an unfortunate blocked punt, which gave the Aggies great field
position which is then followed by a rushing TD by Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman making it a
7-0 game. Miami’s offense was looking very conservative and that lead to a punt but then
Miami’s defense was able to hold the Aggies to a FG, 10-0. The fans were getting frustrated
because Miami weren’t getting down the field and weren’t taking any deep shots down field
but then Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke shows the Aggies an impressive TD drive, 10-7. The fans
have been waiting to see the TVD from 2021, which threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 25 TDs in
6 games.
2 nd Quarter
Miami’s special teams again doesn’t start off so hot with a muffed punt and again giving the
Aggies great field position and an easy 9-yard rushing TD from RB Amari Daniels, 17-7. The
Hurricanes mistakes are the reason the Aggies are still in this game. BOOM! A 5-play drive ends
with an incredible 52-yard TD pass from TVD, 17-14. As the quarter progressed, both teams
were at a stalemate until TVD in just 44 seconds, he does down field with ease and scores to
put Miami put at the half, 21-17.
3 rd Quarter
The Hurricanes defense comes out playing solid, only holding the Aggies to a FG, 21-20. A 98-
yard kickoff return from Brashard Smith has just given Miami a 28-20 lead and from that
moment on you can taste the momentum shift. Miami goes on to end the quarter with a 31-26
lead after a FG from Andres Borregales and a TD with a failed 2-pt conversion from Texas A&M.
4 TH Quarter
This quarter was a defensive show from Miami. The Hurricanes were also absolutely dominate
offensively outscoring the Aggies 17-7 to end the game. It was a pair of spectacular touchdowns
by wide-receiver Jacolby George, and a monster 50-yard field goal from K Andres Borregales for
the Hurricanes. Texas A&M did try to make a comeback with a TD from WR Noah Thomas, but it
was enough in the end.
Overall, the Miami Hurricanes looked like a team that could make some noise this year in
college football. They have Bethune Cookman and Temple before ACC play begins. In my
opinion, Miami has many obstacles left on the schedule, like UNC, CLEMSON, NC STATE, FSU
and LOUISVILLE. Head Coach, Mario Cristobal said in the postgame press conference “We have
worked extremely hard this offseason, but we are nowhere where we want to be at this
moment but with this win, it is a step in the right direction”.
