The Miami FC vs Tampa Bay Rowdies
After an important victory on the road against Hartford Athletic, The Miami FC hosts one of the most important matches of the season. Anytime you host your rivals and in this case the Tampa Bay Rowdies you know it's going to be important. Not only was this match important, it has huge implications to the table and the playoffs. With only eight matches left in the season surely every single match from here on out is going to be treated like a cup final.
The air was hostile at the beginning of the match as always when it comes down to these two teams. Miami tried to impose their will with fast ball movement looking to control the tempo of the match but Tampa remained disciplined.
First blood would be drawn in the 36th minute with Tampa finding the back of the net with a strike coming from the edge of the eighteen making it 1-0.
The Tampa defense would not allow Miami to capitalize on some good looking chances to keep things at 1-0 heading into the dressing room at the half.
Unnecessary possession is the best way to describe the second half with Miami controlling the possession but not attacking the Tampa back line.
This allowed Tampa to hit Miami on the counter attack and it resulted in the Rowdies drawing a penalty. Tampa would would take advantage and double down making it 2-0.
The Tampa Bay Rowdies would hold on for the 2-0 victory and sending Miami to 10th in the Eastern Conference just one point off a playoff spot.
