Inter Miami CF vs Nashville SC

Inter Miami CF vs Nashville SC

The tall task continues for Inter Miami CF with the challenge of reaching the 2023 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs after being the worst team in the league. They started off on the right foot defeating the New York Red Bulls on the road for the +3. The real challenge arrives at DRV PNK Stadium this past weekend welcoming Nashville SC.

Only fitting that the match kicked off with a presentation of the Leagues Cup trophy in which Miami defeated Nashville in the final. Nashville would look for revenge through league play especially after watching this ceremony. Nashville is the only squad so far that has tested Miami the most since the arrival of Lionel Messi.

The first half of this match was a snooze fest with not much going on. Nashville SC had tons of space especially on the counter attack against a Miami team who's back line who struggles. Kamal Miller was the stronghold for the Miami back line during this match. Inter struggled connecting on their touches/passing which is the first time we've seen that happen with Messi.

The second half brought the heat with both teams making the match wide open for the taking. The substitution of Hany Mukhtar made the attack more lethal for Nashville. Mukhtar had a perfect chance but taken away by a HUGE slide tackle by Miller. The league MVP would also have a goal wiped off the board with an offsides call.

Late in the match a play would go to VAR for a potential handball resulting in a penalty by Deandre Yedlin that could be a match winner for Nashville. After a VAR review, it was an offsides call before the handball therefore no penalty. The match would end 0-0 with the teams splitting the points with Miami desperately needing them.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match at the weekend visiting the defending league champions in LAFC.
