Inter Miami CF vs Austin FC

Aside from the current seven match losing streak for Inter Miami CF, the big news this week was the presentation and hiring of Tata Martino as the new head coach. Martino has experience in the MLS having won the league title alongside Josef Martinez in Atlanta. He has also coached Lionel Messi twice at FC Barcelona and the Argentina national team. Tata was present at DRV PNK Stadium as Miami welcomed Austin FC.

Early on in the match it was clear that Miami was the team playing with much more energy and chemistry. Stuver the Austin goalkeeper was put into action early having to save shots from Miami especially from Josef Martinez.

Austin FC would have some valuable chances as well that would result in misses or Drake Callender coming to the rescue. Miami and Austin would head to the dressing room in Fort Lauderdale all knotted up 0-0.

Quickly right off the bat to kick off the second half it would be Miami that would strike first which has been uncharacteristic for this season. Benjamin Cremaschi would fid space on the right flank sending a cross in that found Martinez poorly marked and made the visitors pay making it 1-0.

The lead wouldn't last long as Austin would strike back almost right after with Nick Lima getting a shot off at the top of the box finding the bottom left corner squeaking by Callender for 1-1.

For the first time this season Inter Miami CF would earn a draw splitting the points with Austin but still remain winless in eight matches.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match on the 4th of July welcoming the Columbus Crew to DRV PNK Stadium.
