The Miami FC vs Monterey Bay FC

The Miami FC vs Monterey Bay FC

The last two months of the USL Championship season have not been the smoothest for The Miami FC. They lost their head coach to a struggling form that has seen them fall down the table in the Eastern Conference. They took that streak on the road desperately searching for a win visiting the California side Monterey Bay FC.

Adean Stanley kicked us off with a header in the 23rd minute but the Monterey back line did its job clearing the ball from danger. Both teams were moving the ball well utilizing all the available space of the pitch.

Both teams would head to the dressing room all knotted up 0-0 despite Miami getting one more chance to take the lead. Kyle Murphy took the lead in a breakaway seeing him one-on-one with the keeper who came up with a miraculous save with his leg to keep things level.

Things were looking up in the second half for Miami who looked like they would score the opener any minute. The opportunity would arrive in the 65th minute in form of a penalty. Kyle Murphy would miss the penalty which transitioned into a counter attack. The counter attack was destructive with Monterey finding the back of the net for 1-0.

The goal sucked the confidence out of Miami leaving them frustrated although they would get one more opportunity in this match. Christian Sorto in the 86th minute found a perfect chance but would be saved by the keeper to hold on to the 1-0 victory for the home side.

Next up for The Miami FC is a road match visiting the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at the weekend.
