The Miami FC vs Oakland Roots

The Miami FC vs Oakland Roots

The Miami FC traveled up the west coast for a meeting with the Oakland Roots after two results at the beginning of the week. In league play they picked up their first victory of the season over the Las Vegas Lights 4-1 followed by elimination from the U.S. Open Cup against city rivals Inter Miami CF going all the way to penalties. The South Florida side looked to continue to build off of the last match in league play.

There was not much going on in this match during the first half with both teams fighting hard. Both teams were just trying to find the opening that would let their offense settle into the match. The defense from both sides left the teams with no creativity and forcing passes. The first half would end 0-0 with Oakland picking up a yellow card for a tough challenge on Florian Valot.

Heading into the second half it was more of the same more of a defensive effort leaving everything gridlocked. Oakland did have a moment to score but Curtis Thorn would put his body on the line to keep things level.

In the 81st minute it would be Valot taking his chances from distance and ended up hitting the crossbar. The match would conclude 0-0 giving each team a well hard fought point. It's not a win but not a loss either and that will certainly motivate The Miami FC.

Next up for The Miami FC is a midweek home match at FIU Stadium welcoming in the Birmingham Legion.
