Inter Miami CF vs Columbus Crew

Inter Miami CF entered Lower.com Field with some confidence coming off a midweek victory on penalties in the U.S. Open Cup against The Miami FC. This does not erase that they still had a 6-match losing streak in league play. Columbus Crew was being predicted to be a tough opponent because of their form this season and the fact that Miami is not a good road team.

Young Argentinean and Inter Miami academy graduate Benjamin Cremaschi who replaced Rodolfo Pizarro in the starting 11 played a great match. He was involved in almost every play on the field bringing that energetic spark that Miami has been missing during this losing skid.

Cremaschi would receive a pass from Stefanelli who would service the ball off his head to Leonardo Campana who got in past his defender making it a one-on-one with the keeper and the Ecuadorian made him play. Campana would capitalize making it 1-0 for Miami and the first goal in a month for the Herons coming in the 8th minute.

The lead wouldn't last long because it would be the Crew with a response of their own coming in the 10th minute. Cucho Hernandez would receive a ball right outside the 18 on the left side of the box and decided to rip a shot from distance. There was absolutely no shot for Drake Callender because it was a beautiful curler into the top corner that was equalize the match 1-1.

Miami did not enjoy much possession in this match but what they did was make sure chances counted when they were presented which is something that has been rare this season. Jean Mota would find the head of Campana on a corner rising above any defense finding the net in the 41st minute making it 2-1.

The Columbus Crew in the second half would push into the 18 as well as getting off some dangerous crosses but they were either cleared or nobody home to receive them. Miami would hold on for the +3 ending the losing streak and picking up the first road win since 2022. The Herons move up to 12th in the Eastern Conference.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match welcoming Atlanta United to DRV PNK Stadium at the weekend.
