The Miami FC vs Las Vegas Lights

The Miami FC vs Las Vegas Lights

It has not been an ideal start to the 2023 season for The Miami FC who currently sit near the bottom of the table in the USL's Eastern Conference. They've yet to record a victory in the new season struggling to maintain leads and settle for draws. It's been a little worse for the Las Vegas Lights who sit dead last in the Western Conference who also have zero wins in this current season. The two met at FIU Stadium with a chance to find the first three points of the season.

From the beginning of the match it looked like Miami were hungry to find the first win of the season. An early goal gave the home side the lead 1-0 in the 5th minute with the goal coming from Christian Sorto.

They didn't stop there as the home side continued their press on Las Vegas which would result in Paco Craig finding the net to make it 2-0 for Miami in the 8th minute.

A penalty would be rewarded to Miami in the 37th minute which resulted in Claudio Repetto draining the shot to make it 3-0. Three goals in the first half you can say this match was sealed and out of hand for Las Vegas.

The nail in the coffin was assured at the start of the second half with Joaquin Rivas finding his first goal of the season to make it 4-0 for the home side. It was absolute domination from Miami and utter embarrassment for Vegas.

The Lights would pull one back in the 72nd minute to make it 4-1 to help them avoid being shut out completely. The Miami FC would earn their first victory of the 2023 season moving up to 6th in the Eastern Conference meanwhile Las Vegas will continue searching as they sit dead last.

Next up for The Miami FC is a home match in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup third round welcoming Inter Miami CF followed by a road match against the Oakland Roots at the weekend.
