Kevin Love signs with the Miami Heat
Many Miami Heat fans were extremely disappointed with the teams quiet trade deadline and decided to shop around the buyout market. The buyout market would bring a big fish that nobody thought would become available on the market.
Last week after the trade deadline it became apparent that the Cleveland Cavaliers were ready to move on from Kevin Love. Love helped bring a championship to Cleveland in 2016 overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors. It is said that the #0 will not be worn again and will be retired by the Cavaliers organization.
Cleveland decided to go ahead and buyout Love's contract making him available to the league. With the Miami Heat looking to add size to their roster, a player that can rebound and shoot as well. This was the perfect target for Pat Riley and Miami looking for some help.
Love was in between the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers but ultimately ended up choosing Miami. Love will bring veteran leadership and championship experience to an organization that is all about championship culture. That same culture will help Love with his physical activity getting him into Miami Heat shape the same way we've seen with so many players.
This move along with bringing in Cody Zeller will bring in much needed size to the roster as well as some help for Bam Adebayo who took the responsibility as the only big. Don't expect 2013 or even 2016 Kevin Love as he is up there in age but is still Kevin Love and will bring much needed help.
Love can make his debut this upcoming Friday when the NBA season resumes as the Heat take on the Milwaukee Bucks. The only thing left to see is how Love fits in and will he elevate Miami to break within those top three teams in the Eastern Conference.
