The Miami Dolphins are in the Playoffs

This is the moment that all the Miami Dolphin fans around the world have been waiting for. This is the reason why they brought Mike McDaniel to Miami, to be able to feel this moment. Cheers erupted around Hard Rock Stadium as Dolphin fans watched the scoreboard as the Buffalo Bills defeated the New England Patriots sending Miami to the playoffs.

The way they got into the playoffs was not pretty as Miami dropped five straight games and were in jeopardy of missing the playoffs if they dropped a sixth to the New York Jets. The Dolphins losing streak came at the hands of teams all above the .500 mark. Those teams would be the 49ers, Chargers, Bills, Packers, and Patriots.

The Dolphins entered Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday with a do or die attitude but it wouldn't be easy as they would be without starting QB Tua Tagavailoa due to concussion protocol. Backup QB Teddy Bridgewater would also be unavailable due to injury leaving it all up to rookie QB Skylar Thompson which makes it such a scary thought for such a big game.

The Jets defeated the Dolphins back in week five of the season in MetLife Stadium by a final score of 40-17. That would not be the case this time on the sunny South Florida afternoon. Thompson with 152 yards passing and zero turnovers did just enough to get the job done.

It wasn't the most entertaining game as neither team through four quarters were able to find the end zone. Kicker Jason Sanders was put to good use in this game with Miami starting out with two punts and two turnover on downs to start this game until Sanders nailed a 37-yard attempt to get on the scoreboard.

Tyreek Hill was limited with an ankle injury that impacted his connection with Thompson only receiving two passes for 23 yards on five targets. Raheem Mostert was the closest player to reaching the end zone for Miami but losing 13 yards on first down would result on another Sanders field goal.

The game would come down to 18 seconds left on the clock with a 50-yard field goal pending from Sanders who had only hit one from 50 all season long. The kick was good leaving no time for the Jets to get anything down field easy.

The Dolphins defeat the Jets 11-6 and will head to Highmark Stadium on Sunday to face AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills for the first round of the playoffs.
