The Miami FC vs Birmingham Legion
For the second time this season, The Miami FC and Birmingham Legion would meet with this time the showdown occurring at FIU Stadium. The first meeting ended in a draw as both clubs are currently in a playoff position with Miami sitting 6th and the Legion in 4th. This would be a very motivating challenge for the South Florida club to try to defeat a club up in the standings as they did with Louisville.
The Legion would have a shot to draw first blood in this match 16 minutes in through a set piece. A corner would find its way to the top box with a shot being fired that would make contact with a Miami defenders arm. This would prompt the referee to point to the spot for a penalty in favor of Birmingham. They would not convert the penalty.
Lamar Walker was really a spark for Miami on the offensive threatening Birmingham several times through the first half. His time and first goal of the USL Championship would arrive with a beautiful volley from the top of the 18 making it 1-0. The home side would enter the dressing room for halftime with the one goal advantage.
A high press and control of possession would overwhelm Miami and would end their one goal advantage in the second half. It would be Bruno Lapa to equalize the match 1-1 and leaving it deadlocked. Miami and Birmingham would split the points to remain in playoff positions.
Next up for The Miami FC is a road match in the northeast facing the New York Red Bulls II.
