Inter Miami CF vs Columbus Crew
A match that was already in doubt for Inter Miami CF due to injuries as well as a red card suspension for Alejandro Pozuelo turned out to be a bit closer. Gonzalo Higuain who was not expected to play would start because of the timing of the season as well as the playoff race. Columbus Crew are one of those teams who are fighting as well to stay in the hunt for the postseason.
The first half consisted of an attacking Miami offense that wanted to take a lead early especially with Higuain grabbing some chances who has been in form. The Herons stood tall in the back line as well not letting the Ohio squad get anything going their way. This would sum up action for the first half as they would enter the dressing room 0-0.
It would only take 20 minutes in the second half for the black and yellow to capitalize to take the lead 1-0. A lightning counter attack would give Luis Díaz the opportunity at the near post and would slot it home. Higuain would have a huge opportunity at the end of the match but would go right over the crossbar.
Miami falls to Columbus 1-0 on the road dropping into the final playoff spot 7th in the Eastern Conference. With more road matches coming up then home matches to end the season, Miami will have to pick up several points if they want to be in the postseason.
Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match visiting Soldier Field to face the Chicago Fire.
