Miami Hurricanes vs Southern Miss
The Miami Hurricanes started the game against Southern Miss with a pathetic performance on
the offensive and defense side of the ball in the first half. The offensive line didn’t give Tyler
Van Dyke enough time to release the ball. One can also say that since the Hurricanes are a
heavy running offense, the receivers and the quarterback are out of sync because of the lack of
passing attempts. We assumed Miami would’ve made some adjustments on defense after
allowing 13 to Bethune Cookman last week, but even though Miami held Southern Miss to 7,
they continued to allow big plays. Miami’s best defensive player by far, Akheem Mesidor, did
not play this week. Miami could’ve definitely used him in the first half. After the half, Miami
held Southern Miss scoreless and the offense started to make some plays and ended up
finishing with 30 points. TVD didn’t have that bad of a game when you look at the stats but
overall a win is a win.
