Miami Hurricanes vs Middle Tennessee
After what was a long week since the loss to Texas A&M, many Hurricanes fans like me, were
expecting a bounce back win against Conference USA team, Middle Tennessee. No one warned
or even alerted me about the blasphemy that I witnessed on Saturday evening. Miami’s defense
held the Aggies to 17 points in their own stadium, and yet we somehow allowed Middle
Tennessee to score 45 on us, which includes 4 plays of 60+ yards, the most in college football at
the moment. Another problem the Hurricanes are having is the lack of offense. I think Tyler van
Dyke’s play style is not suited for Josh Gattis’s offensive scheme because we saw after the first
half, back-up quarterback, Jake Garcia, take the field and lead the offense in a way we haven’t
seen in these first three weeks of the CFB season. What I can say is that the Hurricanes are still
trying to shake off the lingering effects of their previous head coach Manny Diaz. Though Coach
Cristobal has brought in more highly rated recruits than Manny did in his entire tenure at
Miami, this team despite having to digest the most embarrassing loss in the program’s history
this past week, Miami has the chance to use this as a learning opportunity and a way to get
bring the team together especially when most of their star running backs and receivers are
injured at the moment. Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, Henry Parrish Jr., Jaylan Knighton and
others. I am hoping Coach Cristobal, his staff and the players use this bye week to address the
issues on the field, heal any injuries, and hopefully get them feeling ready and confident when
they come back to play their first ACC opponent, the North Carolina Tar Heels, who has an
extremely potent offense that is averaging 30+ points per game so far this season against some
strong opponents like Notre Dame and the most surprising team this year, Appalachian State,
who beat Texas A&M in week 2.
