Inter Miami CF vs Chicago Fire
Inter Miami CF visited SeatGeek Stadium coming off back-to-back losses sitting in 9th of the Eastern Conference. With five games remaining in the season sitting just shy of the playoff line this is definitely a match that Miami must pick up points in. The Chicago Fire entered this match the second to last team in the Eastern Conference.
The Fire started off the match the correct way making their presence felt on the attack. The Herons back line stood firm even with playing without Damion Lowe due to injury. The pink and black lacked intensity and creativity on the attack side of things. This looks like a repeat of last season after a nice streak of wins pushing for the playoffs that they started to become unraveled at the end.
In the 40th minute coming off of a deflection it would be Jhon Duran getting his head on it being able to direct the deflection towards goal and off of the crossbar and in. There was nothing Marsman could do as the Fire took the 1-0 lead right before the half.
A counter attack in the 64th minute saw Mauricio Pineda cross the ball that was cleared back to the middle that found the feet of Swiss international Shaqiri who slotted it home for 2-0.
In the 77th minute it would be Miami with a glimmer of hope as Alejandro Pozuelo would draw a penalty. The team's top scorer Gonzalo Higuain would step up and drill the penalty to make it 2-1. Miami would make substitutions and really press to equalize this match in the coming minutes. Duran would put the dagger in Miami in the 87th minute making it 3-1 for Chicago through another counter attack.
This is now three straight losses for Miami staying in 9th of the Eastern Conference. Many Miami fans voiced their displeasure through social media with some calling for Neville to be sacked.
Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match at DRV PNK Stadium on the weekday welcoming in the Columbus Crew.
