The Miami Heat 2022-2023 schedule release: no Christmas
game, but a lot of T.V. time.
The Miami Heat after coming up short in last season's Eastern Conference Finals will start this
year's campaign with some home cooking at FTX Arena.
The NBA released the regular season schedules for all 30 teams for the 2022-2023 season
Wednesday.
The Heat, despite being a win away from a second NBA Finals appearance in three years, are
not scheduled for a Christmas Day game this year. They are the only eastern conference team
that made it to the second round of last year’s playoffs that will not play on the holiday.
“I thought we should have played on Christmas,” Heat guard told The Miami Herald Tuesday.
“But I feel like this is nothing new. I feel like last year we could have played on Christmas.”
Herro and company will have 22 national televised games this season. This includes broadcasts
from TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV.
Miami will begin their year at home against the Chicago Bulls on Oct.19 at 7:30p.m. to start a
four-game homestand that will include their first televised game against the Boston Celtics on
Oct.21 and the Toronto Raptors twice. This is the first time in franchise history that the Heat will
open the season with four straight home games.
10 of the Heats first 14 games will be played at home.
On Martin Luther King Day, The Atlanta Hawks will host the Heat in a rematch of the Eastern
Conference First Round series at 3:30p.m. as a part of a doubleheader on TNT.
A new addition to this year’s NBA schedule will be a NBA Rivals Week, revitalizing historic and
recent rivalries during the week of Jan.23. Miami will host their 21st century rivals in the Boston
Celtics on Jan.24 and welcome the in-state Orlando Magic on Jan.27.
Taking South Beach’s talent south of the border, the Heat will also play a game against the San
Antonio Spurs in Mexico City, Mexico, on Dec.17.
Going into the new year, Miami has their longest road trip of the year from Dec.30 to Jan.6, as
they start their west coast trip. The trip will consist of matchups against the Denver Nuggets, the
Utah Jazz, the Phoenix Suns and both of the teams in L.A.(Clippers and Lakers). Like the regular season, Miami's preseason will start Oct.4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
