Inter Miami CF vs New York Red Bulls

Inter Miami CF vs New York Red Bulls

Another cup final style match for Inter Miami CF as they traveled to the northeast to take on playoff bound team the New York Red Bulls. Miami has already defeated the Red Bulls once this season over at DRV PNK Stadium. The Herons for the first time this season were playing a match sitting above the playoff line. Although that may seem nice, the work needs to be done in order to attain that position.

Phil Neville's men were in complete control of the match looking comfortable and not allowing New York to do much especially with their counter attacks. Gonzalo Higuain continued his amazing form in the 19th minute with a bullet of a free kick that found the back of the net making it 1-0. New York would find their way back right before halftime with former Miami man Lewis Morgan who received a flick from John Tolkin from the top of the box allowing Morgan to get free and slot it home past Callendar making it 1-1.

In the second half it would be the Red Bulls who would gain a major advantage with Alejandro Pozuelo being sent off with a red card after putting his cleats right on the chest of Duncan. This would leave Miami to 10 men and would allow New York to take that advantage in the 54th minute with Edelman making it 2-1.

This match would take another crazy turn with Duncan picking up his second yellow after a lazy challenge  being sent off to level the match at 10 vs 10. That wouldn't stop the Red Bulls as they would snag another one in the 73rd minute with former Miami man Dylan Nealis finding Clark for 3-1.

Thus would seal the deal giving Inter Miami CF a painful loss on the road and it gets much worse. They will be without Pozuelo next match due to the red card suspension and they will most likely be without Higuain picking up a small injury in this match.

Inter Miami CF will hit the road again in a midweek match against the Columbus Crew.
