Inter Miami CF vs FC Dallas
Inter Miami CF hit the road to face FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on 4th of July night. Miami entered the match looking to build upon their 2-1 home victory against Minnesota United while Dallas looked to get back on the win column after a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Western Conference leaders LAFC. The main storyline was how would Miami contain the likes of Jesus Ferreira and Paul Arriola.
Once lineups were announced on social media it would leave many Miami fans scratching their heads. Gonzalo Higuaín would get the nod from his manager Phil Neville over lead goal scorer Leonardo Campana. Attack was nonexistent with the Argentine on the field with the Texas side going up 1-0 in the 27th minute with a free kick scored right outside the box by Alan Velasco.
Campana would be subbed on at the 61st minute making an impact when Finland international Robert Taylor made a phenomenal run beating two Dallas defenders on the right side of the box dribbling into the danger zone making a cross finding the head of the Ecuadorian to equalize 1-1 in the 88th minute. Late game heroics once again would save Miami and this time earn them a point on the road.
Big news would arrive today that Toronto FC star Alejandro Pozuelo signed with Inter Miami CF on a designated player contract. This would all make sense as to why Higuain got the start ahead of Campana last night. Neville stated that the Argentine had been training well and thought he deserved it but in reality he probably knew the deal for Pozuelo was imminent. We may have seen the last of Higuain with Miami and if not, his minutes will be even more limited then they already were because of this new signing.
Next up for Inter Miami CF is rivalry week in the MLS this upcoming weekend with the Herons traveling to Exploria Stadium to face Orlando City.
