The Miami FC vs Pittsburgh Riverhounds
The South Florida weather was not cooperative Saturday night sending The Miami FC and Pittsburgh Riverhounds through a two-hour delay. That wouldn't be the only delay as the start of the second half was impeded due to the lights at FIU Stadium going out. We were finally able to concluded this match a little later then expected but nonetheless a result was produced.
The action in this match began in the 17th minute with a penalty kick being awarded to Pittsburgh due to a taekdown in the box committed by Miami's Speedy Williams. A poorly taken penalty right down the middle was stopped by Connor Sparrow to keep things level.
Junior Palacios would record his first ever professional goal in the 24th minute with service coming from Aedan Stanley to make it 1-0 for Miami. A deflection in the box during the 38th minute would see the Riverhounds equalize the match 1-1. Pittsburgh GK Kevin Silva had difficulty handling a shot from Joshua Perez that was cleaned up by Reid off the rebound and send Miami to the dressing room at the half up 2-1.
Pittsburgh got things going early in the second half with Dixon slotting home a right footed shot to equalize the match 2-2 in the 54th minute. The Riverhounds were clearly more dangerous in the second half out shooting Miami 6-1. Two chances would present themselves for the Riverhounds in stoppage time but just couldn't get it done. Miami and Pittsburgh share the points after a 2-2 draw at the final whistle.
The Miami FC will hit the road next to face FC Tulsa.
