Inter Miami CF vs Atlanta United

Inter Miami CF vs Atlanta United

What a week it has been for Inter Miami CF as they seem to have finally found their form after a rough start to the 2022 campaign. They arrived to DRV PNK Stadium on a two-match winning streak in league play with victories over New England and Seattle. The switch from Gonzalo Higuain to Leonardo Campana has been the topic of conversation as the resolution as Campana has been in great form providing the goals for the Herons.

The match against Atlanta United started off with some concern in the 13th minute when Ronaldo Cisneros capitalized on a corner kick deflecting its way to his feet to slot it home to make it 1-0 in favor of the club from Georgia. For the majority of the match Atlanta controlled everything from possession to shots taken but we know in soccer sometimes that isn't enough.

Nice play down the right flank between Ariel Lassiter and Deandre Yedlin would find a cross to the far post finding the feet of Robbie Robinson who touched it forward for the overlapping Campana who would send it home to make it 1-1 in the 28th minute. United would have perfect opportunities and two potential penalties reviewed but could not capitalize on pivotal chances to win this match.

Atlanta would make a huge defensive mistake that would find the bad pass at midfield at the feet of Ariel Lassiter who would dribble it to the top of the 18 before switching it to Campana who unselfishly passed it back down the middle to find Bryce Duke for the soft tap in to make it 2-1 in the 64th minute.

A big moment in the match was in the 82nd minute when Phil Neville subbed Campana off for Higuain who received an ovation of jeers and whistles from the Miami crowd. Neville and Camapana would turn to the crowd to plead not to boo the Argentine international.

Miami would earn their 3rd straight victory in league play moving up the table to 9th in the Eastern Conference and will face the New England Revolution on the road next.
