Inter Miami CF opened their 2026 MLS campaign with a performance they'll want to forget, falling 3-0 on the road to LAFC on a loud, energized night at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

From kickoff, LAFC dictated tempo, pressing high and forcing Miami into rushed decisions in their own half. The pressure paid off early, with LAFC capitalizing on a defensive miscue to take a 1-0 lead at the 37th minute by David Martinez. Inter Miami struggled to settle afterward, finding little rhythm through midfield and rarely breaking through LAFC's organized defensive block.

The hosts doubled their advantage late in the second half, finishing off a sharp attacking sequence that left Miami's back line scrambling thanks to Denis Bouanga. Miami's attempts to adjust after the break never materialized into real danger, and LAFC continued to be dangerous on counter attacks.

The final blow arrived in stoppage time of the match by way of Nathan Ordaz coming from Bouanga. A cross into the box found the sliding Ordaz to put the home team up 3-0. The last goal sent the Coliseum crowd into celebration mode.

For Inter Miami, the night highlighted issues on both ends of the pitch. The attack managed few clear chances, while defensive lapses proved costly against one of the league's most explosive offenses. Despite the tough start, the season is long, and Miami will look to regroup quickly as they continue on the road until the completion of Miami Freedom Park.

LAFC, meanwhile, looked every bit the contender they've been in recent years, organized, confident, and punishing in the final third.

Inter Miami CF returns to action next weekend on Sunday Night Soccer visiting rivals Orlando City. An opportunity to reset and show what this revamped squad can offer as the journey through 2026 campaign begins.
