Carson Beck breaks record against Bethune-Cookman
The Miami Hurricanes were back at Hard Rock Stadium after starting out the season with a thriller victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Hurricanes would have a much easier task in week two welcoming Bethune-Cookman who just played another Miami team in the FIU Panthers the week prior falling 42-9. If that was against the Panthers imagine what will happen to the Wildcats against a #5 ranked Hurricane team.
Carson Beck would start out this game making history finding his way into Miami Hurricanes record book. Beck would complete his first 15 passes surpassing Vinny Testaverde who completed 14 in 1986 against the Oklahoma Sooners. The transfer QB from Georgia would finish the game 22 of 24 going for 264 yards on the night with two touchdowns. Testaverde's record stood for almost four decades until this past Saturday night.
CJ Daniels continued to have a nice start to the season having both of Beck's touchdown passes coming from 40 and five yards out. Beck has gone for 185 consecutive passes without an interception dating from his final days at Georgia in which he was known to be an interception machine with the Bulldogs. Mark Fletcher Jr would have two touchdowns who was able to get to the red zone on his first five drives. Fletcher Jr would substitute out in the third quarter with Marty Brown and Girard Pringle getting some carries well as scoring drives.
The Hurricanes would be without Wesley Bissainthe for the majority of the game after he picked up a targeting penalty on the first series of the game. Bethune-Cookman's Jordan Johnson would also pick up a targeting penalty in the third quarter. The Wildcats have run 119 plays through the first two games of the season and have only resulted in four field goals. The Hurricanes dominate the Wildcats with a final score of 45-3.
Next up for the Miami Hurricanes is a home game welcoming the South Florida Bulls to Hard Rock Stadium.
