Kyle Stowers out for several weeks
Heartbreaking news for the Miami Marlins this past week when star player Kyle Stowers was placed on the IL with a left oblique strain. Stowers felt tightness after his final at bat on Friday, August 15 and was placed on the 10-day IL. There is a chance the injury recovery can take more than 10-days in a time where the Marlins need him the most as it seems its hot streak has died down.
After the eye opening sweep over the New York Yankees, the Marlins struggled with a series loss against the Houston Astros, followed by a heartbreaking series against the Atlanta Braves with Miami only taking one game out of five. The Braves have struggled all season long and sit below the Marlins in the NL East division which made this series frustrating for Marlins fans. This was followed by a series loss against the Cleveland Guardians.
The road trip would end with a trip to the famous Fenway Park the home of the Boston Red Sox.
Game 1: Marlins 1-2 Red Sox
Trevor Story gives the Red Sox a walk-off victory with bases loaded in the ninth for the series opening 2-1 victory over Miami.
Game 2: Marlins 5-7 Red Sox
Trevor Story once again shines for Boston hitting a three-run homer leading his team past the Marlins 7-5.
Game 3: Marlins 5-3 Red Sox
Dane Myers and Jakob Marsee come up clutch both hitting homers in the final inning to avoid a sweep defeating Boston 5-3.
The Marlins now continue without Stowers welcoming the St. Louis Cardinals to loanDepot Park.
